Iran filmmaker Zohreh Zamani to join jury at Indian fest

Iran female filmmaker is to join jury at the Eternal Beauty film event in India.

Iranian female filmmaker has been invited to join the jury panel at the Eternal Beauty film event in India.

The Indian event which is a COVID-19 lockdown short film challenge will have Iranian award-winning director Zohreh Zamani among its jury members.

Born in 1969, Zamani is an Iranian writer, interpreter and filmmaker and the director of the Iranian Youth Cinema Society in Anzali, north of Iran.

She has already made a number of short films among which her ‘A Letter for Andre’ won the Best Film award at the Religion Today Film Festival in Italy.

The filmmaker has been the first Muslim woman to join the jury panel of the Religion Today Film Festival in 2010 in Italy and the 2012 Dhaka International Film Festival.

She has also been the presiding jury for the short films section of the Dhaka Film Festival.

According to the official website for the event, it is “A Platform for thoughts, ideas, creations, which is out to bring about new waves in Indian cinema. Thoughts, that can be eccentric, outré, bizarre! But most importantly that will be, society relevant”.

The event is currently open for submissions and the announced deadline for sending works is May 20, 2020.
